01How to read them
Guides, not rules.
These criteria apply to secondary-market acquisitions of $250K–$10M+ per work or item. They guide where we spend our time and are not a promise to buy; every acquisition is decided by Caldrion’s investment committee. Our emerging-artist patronage acquires directly from primary galleries and degree shows and sits outside these thresholds.
Caldrion is a single family office: it invests only its own capital, has no outside investors or clients, and does not offer securities.
02What to send
A complete package.
Links, not files. A complete package gets the fastest answer.
- Link to high-resolution images (front, verso, and signatures or hallmarks)
- Link to detailed provenance and exhibition history
- Link to a recent condition report
- Asking price or valuation rationale
03Outside our mandate
What we don’t do.
- Works without a documented, unbroken chain of title.
- Works without a certificate of authenticity from a recognized foundation or expert.
- Works subject to restitution claims, liens or unresolved questions of ownership.
- Works or objects without a condition report, or whose condition falls short of museum quality.
- Artists or makers without an established auction record (outside our emerging-artist patronage).
- Cultural property that cannot be shown to have been exported and imported lawfully.
- Fractional interests, shares in pooled art vehicles or tokenized claims on a work: we buy the work itself, as principal.
- Advisory, valuation or brokerage services: we buy for our own collection and do not act for others.
Criteria
Considering a private sale?
We acquire discreetly, as principal, and pay promptly. Tell us about the work, its provenance and its condition, and you will hear from the people who decide.
